Breakfast

Here at The Chadwick Bed & Breakfast, we believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day—and it is also the perfect time for us to get to know you better and to help you plan your day or evening in Portland, Maine! Enjoy the morning papers with your tea or coffee and meet other guests from around the world. Breakfast is served from 8-9:30am in the dining room; hot coffee is brewed at 7am and refreshed throughout the day.

Breakfast is prepared daily in our kitchen using the best and freshest foods found at our local grocers, farmers markets, and food stands. Some guest favorites include Garden Fresh Omelets with Paprika Potatoes, Blackberry Cobbler Waffles with Oven Bacon, Rosemary & Thyme Goat Cheese Quiche with Panzanella Breakfast Salad, Gosling Rum Croissant Bread Pudding with Country Sausage, or our signature Maine Lobster Eggs Benedict with Lemon Scallion Hollandaise.

For those that prefer something other than the hot entrée of the day, we are happy to offer our house-made granola, oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts, or eggs as you wish. With advance notice, we are happy to accommodate vegetarian or gluten-free breakfast requests or work around any food allergies.

If you need to depart before 8am, we are happy to make you a bagged breakfast of fresh fruit, a muffin or sweet bread, fruit and nut trail mix, and cheese with freshly brewed coffee and juice to go.

In 2013 & 2016, The Chadwick Bed & Breakfast was honored to be selected for BedandBreakfast.com’s The Best B&B Breakfast Tournament. The Best B&B Breakfast Tournament contest worked in brackets, much like the NCAA Basketball®’s March Madness®. In 2013, our recipe of Gosling Rum Croissant Bread Pudding, and in 2016, our recipe for Maine Lobster Benedict with Lemon-Herb Butter, also made it to the top 8!

Vanilla Bean Cream

Our Vanilla Bean Cream recipe is very similar to Dana Moos' recipe found in her first cookbook The Art of Breakfast: How to Bring B&B Entertaining Home. Pumpkin Spice Waffles

Fall is in the air any morning these delicious waffles hit the griddle! Truth be told, we serve these all year long -- they just taste THAT good. We make our own pumpkin spice because it's easy and it cost way less than pre-mixed pumpkin spice. To make your own, combine 3 parts cinnamon, 3 parts ginger, 2 parts nutmeg, and 1 part ground clove.
